Report Fraud & Scams

Our commitment to safety drives us as a company that serves the public good. Simply stated, we want to keep you safe from financial scams. Especially financial scams that involve criminals using our name to threaten or compel you to give them money.

Posing as our employees, they demand immediate payment through a pre-paid debit card or ask for personal identity information under the false threat of service disconnection.

Criminals’ tactics are becoming increasingly sophisticated and tend to intensify during the holiday season. Thieves typically attempt to steal money by phone or in person but be on the lookout for falsified mail and email as well.

Guard your personal information carefully, and remember that we never ask customers for pre-paid debit cards for payment.

What you should know about scams

These scammers use creative lies to threaten you and compel you to give them money and/or personal information. Some scammers are displaying our name as the Caller ID. Others play a telephone recording that sounds like our phone system message.

  • They threaten to shut off power unless an immediate payment is made;
  • They tell you that you need a new meter, but a payment must be made before the new meter is installed;
  • They go door to door and negotiating total bill amounts if an immediate payment is made;
  • They offer a discount on your bill if you sign up for auto-pay;
  • They demand a deposit be paid immediately.

We never ask customers to use pre-paid debit cards for payment.
