Stewart Named Community Affairs Manager for Appalachian Power

HUNTINGTON, W.Va., March 10, 2005 – Appalachian Power has named Steven G. Stewart as community affairs manager for the company. Stewart will be based in Huntington and will serve Cabell, Lincoln, Wayne, Mingo, Logan and Mason counties.

Stewart comes to the company from Fifth Third Bank, where he has worked since 2000. Prior to joining Fifth Third, Stewart was a 16-year employee of American Electric Power, Appalachian Power’s parent company. He worked in various positions in community and government affairs, marketing and engineering, and as a line mechanic.

Stewart is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, and is active in several community organizations in Huntington and Ashland, Ky., including Leadership Tri-State, the Ashland YMCA, March of Dimes, American Heart Association, United Way and The Optimist Club. He and his wife, Cheryl, have a daughter, Abbi.

Appalachian Power provides electricity to 1 million customers in Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee.  It is a unit of American Electric Power, the nation’s largest electricity generator.  AEP owns more than 36,000 megawatts of generating capacity and is one of the nation’s largest electric utilities, with more than 5 million customers in 11 states.
