COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 11, 2009 – American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking offers to supply Powder River Basin coal to one or more of its operating companies in the amounts, and for the periods, noted:

• A one-year supply of up to 2 million tons of coal starting Jan. 1, 2010.


• A six-month supply of up to 1 million tons of coal starting either Jan. 1, 2010, or July 1, 2010.


• A one-year supply of up to 3 million tons of coal starting Jan. 1, 2011.

The actual accepted length of all offers will be at AEP’s discretion. AEP is open to alternative pricing structures or other innovative, value-added concepts. Proposals with alternative terms will be accepted.

Coal proposal package(s), along with any additional supporting material, must be received by AEP no later than 12 p.m. (noon), Friday, May 15.
