Rate adjustment approved as Appalachian Power focuses on reliability and cost stability

Appalachian Power Company (APCo) received approval from the Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) to adjust base rates beginning June 1. This base rate change allows APCo to continue investing to build a more reliable electric grid in West Virginia while accounting for increased costs due to inflation.

Appalachian Power offers $25,000 reward in Wayne County substation vandalism investigation

Appalachian Power Company (APCo), in coordination with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the identification, prosecution and conviction of those responsible for vandalism at the East Lynn Substation in Wayne County that occurred in January.

Appalachian Power announces proposed power line routes for Bancroft-Milton Transmission Line Rebuild Project

Appalachian Power Company (APCo) today announced a proposed line route for its 69-kilovolt (kV) Bancroft-Milton Transmission Line Rebuild Project. APCo determined the route after reviewing input from landowners and community members following the project announcement and four public open houses in 2024 and 2025.

Appalachian Power plans open house for transmission upgrades in Huntington

Appalachian Power Company (APCo) representatives plan to upgrade the transmission system in Huntington as part of the Darrah-Barnett Transmission Line Rebuild Project. The project involves rebuilding approximately 3 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line and upgrading two substations to increase reliability for customers and reduce the risk of power outages.

Appalachian Power Company (APCo) is actively responding to a mineral oil release resulting from an equipment failure at its Wyoming Station in the Clear Fork Area of Wyoming County. Mineral oil is commonly used to cool electrical transformers.

Southwest Virginia landowners share input on proposed transmission project

APCo representatives and landowners met at recent open houses to discuss the Claytor-Floyd Transmission Line Rebuild Project. If approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC), the project would replace 1940s-era infrastructure with modern equipment to increase electric reliability and reduce the need for frequent maintenance.
