Could you use an extra $75? It’s yours for the asking if you don’t really need that old, extra fridge in the garage or basement — and if you act now.
During August and September only, Appalachian Power will raise the incentive paid to customers from $50 to $75 for arranging to have working, but outdated, refrigerators and freezers picked up for recycling. The incentive returns to $50 on Oct. 1.
On top of the temporary $75 incentive, customers also save money over the long-term. Older refrigerators, often kept for extra cold storage, can require three times the energy to operate than newer models built to higher efficiency standards. That can add up to about $150 in saved energy annually.
To participate, customers can either call 1-877-691-0025, or visitTakeChargeWV.com/recycle, to schedule a convenient time for a crew to visit their home and haul away an old refrigerator or freezer.
