TRAFFIC IMPACT ADVISORY: U.S. 23 delay planned Oct. 19 to complete upgrade

October 15, 2014

ASHLAND, Ky. – Kentucky Power plans to stop traffic in both directions along U.S. Route 23 in Boyd County at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, to complete the installation of new service lines across the highway. The road closure is not expected to exceed 15 minutes.

The work zone is located near Catlettsburg and mile marker 2.6. Workers will make every effort to keep the traffic interruption as brief as possible.

Kentucky Power has notified highway officials, law enforcement agencies and local authorities of the road closures and obtained all necessary work-related permits. Professional traffic control personnel will be used to manage traffic and lane closures during the project.

Kentucky Power is an operating unit of American Electric Power and provides electricity to approximately 171,000 customers in all or part of 20 Eastern Kentucky counties.
