PSO Matching Donations To Help Oklahomans and Hurricane Survivors

September 12, 2005

Public Service Company of Oklahoma announced it will provide a company match to customer donations to the Salvation Army’s Light A Life Fund.  For every dollar donated to Light A Life through the end of the year, PSO will donate two dollars to the Salvation Army Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Fund.

“We want to do what we can to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina,” said Tiffini Lyda, regulatory consultant for PSO.   “However, we realize the need to help our fellow Oklahomans hasn’t stopped.  This company match will allow our customers to continue to help neighbors in need pay their energy bills while also helping victims of this disaster.”

Money from the Salvation Army Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Fund is being used to provide hurricane survivors with vouchers and gift cards for necessities such as medicine, food and clothing.

Since 1986, Light A Life has been helping Oklahoma families who could not otherwise afford to heat and cool their homes.  In addition, PSO pays all administrative costs for the Light A Life program so that all the proceeds can go to help those who need it most.

PSO, a unit of American Electric Power, is an electric utility company serving more than 505,000 customers in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma.  Based in Tulsa, PSO has more than 4,000 megawatts of generating capacity and offers some of the lowest energy prices in the United States.
